I began to prepare for study abroad during the International Pre-Master in Art and Design (IPMAD) programme. I completed my portfolio, interview, sketchbook, etc. I discovered, in this time that the most engaging aspect of the creation process, is the making itself and not the result. The teachers of the IPMAD taught us to record the process. Recording the creation process preserves the context and the original thoughts behind the production of a piece.

On the International Foundation in Art & Design (IFAD) programme, we had many different workshops, such as ceramics, 3D printing, silk-screen printing, etc. The teachers encourage us to do the artwork solely by ourselves. Through this, I learnt how to express myself with my artworks, and not just to paint a picture for the sake of it. Teachers would never dictate what to do; they just gave suggestions based on my ideas and then encouraged me to think of how to improve the artwork by myself. Each of us had our own sketchbook to regularly record our inspiration and research about each project we undertook.

Prior to starting the International Pre-Masters in Art and Design (IPMAD) course, I had a distinct lack of knowledge on artistic concepts and over the course of that year, I developed better understandings about art and design. The training benefited me a lot because of the emphasis in critical and creative thinking, as well as reflection in the creative process. At the that time, I attempted a lot of new things, and it broadened and enriched my understanding of art.
